This terracotta doll is more than 200 years old and are usually found from the temples of Tamil Nadu (India) which specifically worshipping Ayyanar – Tamil Nadu’s village protector deity, Ayyanar, has a special and cherished place in the Hindu gods’ pantheon. Ayyanar, who is revered mostly in rural regions for his protective and kind character, is thought to protect communities and their residents from bad forces and disasters. His devotion is ingrained in Tamil Nadu’s religious and cultural fabric, which reflects the blending of local and Vedic customs. The etymology, mythological roots, iconography, worship customs, and contemporary significance of Ayyanar are all examined in this article.
